Anuja Varghese discusses A Kiss of Crimson Ash, the first book in her new medieval India fantasy trilogy. Inspired by medieval India’s most epic love stories, Varghese's debut blends rich storytelling and lush worldbuilding filled with romance, magic, secrets, political intrigue, and spice of every variety.
In an engaging conversation with BPL event coordinator Parampreet Khanuja, Varghese reflects on the process of writing the book, her transition from short stories to novels, her research on medieval India, and the books that inspired her literary journey.
A Different Drummer Books will be on-site with books for sale and signing after the talk.

About the Author
Anuja Varghese (she/her) is an award-winning writer and editor. Her debut short story collection, Chrysalis, won the Writers' Trust of Canada's Dayne Ogilvie Prize for LGBTQ2S+ Emerging Writers and the Governor General’s Literary Award for Fiction, was shortlisted for the Rakuten Kobo Emerging Writer Prize, and was longlisted for the Carol Shields Prize for Fiction.
